while breastfeeding 7 month old baby morning and night,how much formula should he have during day?
As I am returning to work soon I need to reduce to only night time breast feed with my lo who is currently 7 and a half months. This week we stopped day time breast feeds and have been giving him formula in the day in a sippy cup. He only takes 2-3 oz at a time 4-5 times a day with his 3 solid meals and also mid morning and afternoon. How much formula should he be taking while he is still getting two breast feeds a day and also when we reduce to one breast feed at night next month?
Even though he is on solids his main source of nutrition should be breast milk or formula until he’s a year old, 24 - 32 oz a day. Why don’t you just pump what you can? Or are you trying to wein all together? If so I would suggest giving him 6 oz of formula 4 times a day, plus 2 nursings a day. Hope that helps.
