Plot: Art photographer Shawn Burnett reluctantly agrees to move to a rural farmhouse to help his wife, Helen, recover from the loss of their stillborn baby. At first skeptical of a local legend regarding the property’s past, Shawn soon becomes convinced that the farm is haunted. As Helen recovers from her grief and again becomes pregnant, Shawn keeps the strange occurrences to himself to avoid disrupting her emotional balance. Misinterpreting Shawn’s suggestion to move as a selfish desire to return to the city, Helen becomes estranged from her on-edge husband, as the ghostly presence manifests itself in increasingly terrifying ways.

I need fantasy ranks for my fantasy book (IE necromancer, clairvoyant, sorcerer etc)?
I’m writing a fantasy book and silly me but Im not sure where to find all of the possible things my characters could be. Okay… I’m explaining badly.

I have an awful memory and such like and I don’t know if there is a site with all of these and if there is where to find it.

So any that you can think of or if you could link me to a site with some that would be great.

Examples are :

Necromancer, Sorcerer, Conjurer, Seer, Clairvoyant, Healer etc

Any that are less typical and more unique would be good too.

There are many different magical traditions that have existed over the course of human history. They don’t really have ranks though since they all existed at different times. If you just want a list of "-mancy’s", here is a list of different types of divination. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methods_of_ divination

You could group them however you wanted to for your story. I’ll just lay out how I might describe spell casters in one of my stories, feel free to change it or use it however you like.

I’d split the Art of magic into five Disciplines; Necromancy, Sooth, Conjuration, Alchemy, and Incantation. Then I’d split each Discipline into three different Paths.

Maleficium is a Latin term meaning "wrongdoing" or "mischief" and is used to describe malevolent, dangerous, or harmful magic, "evildoing" or "malevolent sorcery". In general, the term applies to any magical act intended to cause harm or death to people or property.

As far as ranks, giving a spell caster a title based on their skill level, I might do something like this.

Adept - A person with no formal training, but does possess some innate magical talent. An adept may be able to cast one or a few spells, but they are usually limited to a single magical path

Apprentice - A person who is currently being trained in the Art by a more experienced spell caster.

Magician - Magicians (or hedge mages) typically know only a handful of spells, but they can often find work from commoners in towns and cities if their particular spells can be useful. All magicians were a former apprentice who, for whatever reason, has not yet completed mastering any of the Magical Paths. Either the apprentices former mentor has died before the training was finished, cast the apprentice away refusing to teach them more, or their mentor was not very skilled and simply had nothing left to teach them. Magicians are free to try to develop their talents further either through study or by becoming apprentice to another mentor.

Path Mage - Someone who has mastered the Art of a single Magical Path. These individuals will have a different title based upon the Path they have mastered. As an example a master of Augury would be called an Augur. More below.

Specialist Mage - Someone who has mastered all three Paths of a single Magical Discipline. Titles vary based upon the Discipline. As an example, a master of Augury, Dowsing, and Clairvoyance would be called a Soothsayer. More below.

Mage - Someone who has mastered multiple magic Disciplines, but not all.

Wizard or Arch-Mage - Someone who has mastered all magic Disciplines.

Then the Disciplines and Paths might be…

Necromancy (Necromancer) - Discipline of magic dealing with the living and the dead.
Sciomancy (Shaman) - Path of Necromancy, it involves communicating with ghosts of the dead.
Vodou or Imbue (Bokor) - Path of Necromancy, the practice of infusing inanimate objects with life energy so that it can be animated and controlled. Practitioners can create zombies, golems, and talismans.
Qi (Catalyst or Dynamist) - Path of Necromancy, it involves the transfer of vitality between living creatures. Can be used to drain part of the lifeforce from one target to heal another.

Conjuration (Conjurer) - Discipline of magic involving supernatural beings.
Invocation (Invoker) - Path of Conjuration, involves using the casters own body as a vessel for otherworldly beings to inhabit. This can be done for a short while in order to obtain information from the entity, or as a means of perfecting oneself by uniting with the divine.
Evocation (Evoker) - Path of Conjuration, involves asking a spirit or force to become present at a given location.
Theurgy (Sorcerer) - Path of Conjuration, involves using spiritual energy (or favors) in order to perfect oneself. A controversial Path, since this power is mostly from the souls of the dead? Each of a Sorcerer’s magical improvements might also come with it’s own unique cost.

Alchemy (Alchemist) - Discipline of magic that involves mingling the energies of various substances.
Transmutation (Transmuter) - Path of Alchemy, involves changing the form of a person, object, or themselves into another. Skilled transmuters might be able to change their shape into many different animals, for example.
Distillery (Condenser)- A Path of Alchemy, it involves the creation of Elixirs, poisons, and magical potions.
Concoction (Contriver)- A Path of Alchemy, it involves the creation of magical oils, salves, and pastes that produce a variety of magical effects when applied.

Sooth or Divination (Soothsayer) - Discipline of magic devoted to seeing the unseen in the past, present, and future.
Augury (Augur) - Path of Divination, practice of reading omens in patterns of the natural world, or by rune casting or scrying in order to reveal the will of fate.
Dowsing (Dowser) - Path of Divination, the practice of finding people, objects, or substances. Such as using a pendulum and a map to find underground water.
Clairvoyance (Seer) - Path of Divination, the practice of using visions, trances, or dreams to see the past, present, or future.

Incantation or Phonemancy (Namers) - Discipline of magic that seeks to learn and use the true names of things within the world. Then the true name can be used at anytime to influence or summon the named creature or object.
Tulpa (Bonpo) - Path of Incantation, it involves a being or object which is created by calling out it’s true name and through sheer willpower alone.
Enchantment (Enchanter or Weaver) - Path of Incantation, it involves learning and using the true names of specific magical effects. Once a spells true name is known, a magical effect can be placed directly on a creature or object. Can also be used to create illusions, by using magic to make the targets believe that the illusion is real.
Sigil Writing (Runecaster or Enochian) - Path of Incantation, it involves placing a magical effects true name within a drawn symbol. These sigils can be used to effect the object they were written on.

does it seem to you that the 2000s had far less good movies than the 90s?
it seems like there were alot more better movies in the 90s than the 2000s.
reservoir dogs, pulp fiction, clerks, a few good men, saving private ryan, Forrest Gump, the list goes on and on.

I agree. movie makers don’t want to work to make new fans, so instead they are trying to cater to exsisting fan bases. (transformers, Start Trek, Indiana jone, ect.)

However as a fan of some these orginals, and most of the other ‘fans’ I know consider these these knockoffs bad but with better special effects. I still went to see the first one, but will not see the sequal.

I know, nowadays the movies lack moral complexity and all of the above, this decade was not about making movies to make movies it was about getting money. Expect worse movies to come.
Brogan L | Jan 22, 2010

Yeah, it does seem that way. Everything being made now is either a remake or just isn’t that good, but the 90s didn’t have as many good movies as the 80s. That’s just my opinion, though.

Mudvayne, Hellyeah Question?
Ok now does anybody think that The band HellYeah has rubbed onto Mudvayne. In an interview I watched on youtube they asked Chad Grey if he thinks that his Band has pollinated on Mudvayne. His claim is no. I for one beg the differ. If you listen to Mudvaynes last two albums ( which were released after the band HellYeah) Chad had a southern accent in em’ His voice sounds different, more like HellYeah. And if you don’t see what I’m getting at yet. Mudvayne and Hellyeah are two different bands that have the same lead singer. The bands sing and play their instruments totally different from each other. I love the band Mudvayne (serious die hard fan) I like Hellyeah too but Mudvayne way more. Do you think that Chad is full of himself when he says that HellYeah hasn’t left an impression on Mudvayne? The reason why I’m so concerned is because I miss the way Mudvayne use to play their music. And also do you think that they care if they hurt their fans by doing that. Change their style of music from thmusicic that got them their fans. I don’t know I guess its just an open opinion, kinda like a forum I wanna se everybody elses opinion on this and how they feel, maybe I should do this on their website. Easy Ten Points

personally i think Chad Grey has become more laid back when he has been singing. if you listen to Hellyeah you will tell everything seems so loose i think Hellyeah has made an impression but he just won’t admit it. Maybe Vinnie Paul rubbed off on him a little.
Heavy_Metal_Gamer | Feb 09, 2010

I saw Mudvayne back in 2000 when they opened for Ozzy/Zombie on the Merry Mayhem Christmas tour and to be quite honest Chad has been completely full of himself always….

can you feel a distinct difference in the way you feel? almost as if your body is being oppressed by a spirit?
second…do you believe or know based on the bible that spirits are allowed to possess the body of a Christian? as a good or bad spirit meaning angel or demon? I would prefer educated answers but if you just want to comment…. go ahead.

I have sensed spiritual oppression. I do not believe a Christian can possess a demon, based on Scripture. Jesus said, "A house divided against itself cannot stand…" We cannot possess the Holy Spirit and a demon at the same time. Think about it.
ruth | Feb 06, 2010

Ding ding ding you are thinking this is good!!!! Oppress is the key word. Not possessed. Two totally different things. How about this the manifestation of the spirit of sin. It’s not me who does it but sin in me who does it? Get it? AKA the spirit of sin who by adam and eve’s disobedience entwined itself into the human soul forever changing humanity? Ding ding ding is this getting to deep yet? So the spirit has passed its way through generations / the family tree. Oh but wait now we have the Holy spirit. Greater is he who is in us than he who is in the world. AKA the spirit of sin. But what about spiritual oppression? You mean demons have powers to oppress people? ding ding ding how about Job. so God allows this to happen? yes. For what reason? For us to learn as you are!!! Some through the water some through the flood, I’ve been walking through the fire but all through the blood!!! God bless you brother you are growing. welcome to the family! God disciplines those he loves. Aba Father!!!
I’m not religious but I’m sure I’ve had a spirit visit me. "He" doesn’t frighten me and I’ve never fully believed in angels or devils. At times I’ve experienced hands-free automatic orgasms. I’ve named him Paul. He doesn’t show up at the wrong time or anything. I don’t talk about this because "they wouldn’t understand"
It’s good to be able to mention this here.
I can bring him to me silently by sending out thoughts…but the sexual feellings haven’t
been here in a few years. He’s been with me off and on since 2002.
I know I’ll get some nasty replies but open-minded is a good thing. I feel special to have this experience.
pleeeeeease dont say space jam lol.
stop motion works too

the only other ones I can think of are Pete’s Dragon and James and the Giant Peach.

my favorite stop motion animation is Wallace and Gromit and the Curse of the Wererabbit–won an oscar too. great cartoon

if you’re looking for stop motion / live action mix, my six year old son is a HUGE fan of Ray Harryhausen (though the movies can sometimes be violent):
Clash of the Titans
Jason and the Argonauts
The 7th Voyage of Sinbad
20 Million Miles to Earth
The 7 Faces of Dr. Lao
Mysterious Island

some other good stop motion animation that may not be okay for kids are Nightmare Before Christmas and The Adventures of Mark Twain (I saw that one as a kid and loved it, but it’s just a bit creepy in places.)

Dragonslayer~To me, Vermithrax Pejorative is the best dragon ever! She holds up after all this time and looks/moves so much better than the others.
Krull~The Crystal Web Spider must be seen! I think it’s the most amazing spider ever brought to life in any way on the screen.

I wasn’t sure if you’re interested in stop-motion monsters, but there also are these:

Does he like me back?
Okay, this is a very silly typical questions, so I’ll try to keep it short and sweet.

The guy:
- I got up to staple a picture during class, and I bumped into him. While saying sorry, he stared into my eyes for over 4 seconds.
- Because we are on the same sports team, we go to meets together: he talked to me about how he did.
- During practice, I sat on the ground to take a break. He walked away from his friends and sat down by me for about ten minutes. (saying nothing) I decided to break the ice and he responded by smiling and nodding. After that, he repeatedly asked all of the people around me for food (that they were eating at the time) but never once asked, the person who was sitting beside him, for food.
- My friend and I were joking doing a "secret handshake," one that didn’t exist, and he walked over, seemingly attempting to sit by me again and said "I want to see the handshake," but I jokingly replied "No! It is a secret!" (I did that because I didn’t want to embarrass myself by trying to do a handshake that didn’t exist.
- After, he walked back over and I showed him my best friend and I’s handshake, and he teased me. x)
- Here is the biggest bit of evidence: His good friend took his backpack at lunch and brought it over to the table where my friend and I were sitting and said "watch this please." I knew it was his, so I called to him and he walked over to me, I handed it to him, and he said "Thanks." He looked back at my table every now and then.
Sorry that was so long

I know it all sounds petty, and it is, I know that (: I’m in high school, and proud of it.
Sooooo, does he like me?

Thanks in advance xx

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Adventures of Tom Sawyer - Mark Twain

Here’s my personal opinion, having read several of the books you mentioned. Keep in mind, the editions of some of the older books (such as Alice in Wonderland) will aide in determining the price. Remember, the earlier the edition and the better condition equals the most profitable price.

Alice in Wonderland: $10. Keep in mind what I said about edition.
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes: $15. If this is a complete set (I believe there are 10 or so mysteries) then you should be able to get a good price. Use the fact that the new movie Sherlock Holmes was just released to your advantage.
Memoirs of a Geisha: $10. Like Sherlock Holmes, the fact that a movie exists for this book is a beneficial occurrence.
Brave New World: $5.
The Shining: not more than $10, not less than $2. It really depends on your edition. This book can be found extremely cheap at some secondhand book stores.
Dreams from My Father: about $12. Popular book now that Obama is the President!
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: $5 if paperback, $10 if hardback. These numbers are about half of the original selling price.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban: same as Goblet of Fire.
Adventures of Tom Sawyer: $10. This is a widely-found novel, but if your copy is good, you should be able to fetch a great price!

Hope this helps!

Why is the Mona Lisa painting so fascinating?
I admit it’s a nice painting but it’s just a lady smiling. Whip de do. And people make excellent paintings of mysterious people but it’s not as hyped.

			1. Her eyes gaze at the viewer, regardless of their perspective.
2. The vast and breathtaking landscape in the background.
3. It is an icon of the European Renaissance, one of the greatest periods of art.
4. It has a long and extensive history, including several thefts in its lifetime.

because it’s painted so intelligelibly that you can’t tell if she’s more happy than sad or more sad than happy.
It’s all about the mountains in the background. No, really.
I actually agree with you.
I strongly dislike a few paintings that are famous, like "The Scream". I think it a gruesome. Can’t imagine why it would be so valuable and exciting. I think it’s ugly and I can think of so many more things I’d like to look at that are lovely.
At least Mona Lisa is well done and realistic.
I like impressionism. Monet is my favorite.
